Job Description
Join MKO as an Acoustic Consultant/Acoustic Technician, where you will play a vital role in our acoustics team and work on a wide range of projects, including environmental noise monitoring, data analysis and reporting.

Experience in noise monitoring and reporting is essential. Knowledge of building acoustics would be beneficial. You will have the opportunity to work within Ireland’s largest environmental and planning consultancy, gaining knowledge and experience in areas such as noise impact assessment and acoustic modelling.

The role offers an exciting opportunity for an ambitious professional to work on projects across the country from our Dublin office. Hybrid working may also be possible. Due to the requirement for regular site visits and in-office collaboration, candidates should be within a reasonable commuting distance. Proximity to the Leinster region is advantageous for this role.

What You’ll Bring to MKO
  • Undertake environmental noise surveys at sites across Ireland for compliance reports and impact assessment projects, including occasional evening and night-time surveys.
  • Liaise with site operators when coordinating monitoring.
  • Analyse data to extract required information.
  • Prepare compliance reports and Noise Management Plans.
  • Contribute to EIAR noise chapters, including data analysis, predictive modelling, and assessment of impacts.
  • Prepare acoustic design statements using ProPG, and advise on building acoustic specifications.
  • Take ownership of projects from inception to completion.
  • Provide regular project updates to other members of the Acoustic Team.
  • Have a good knowledge of survey methodology, reporting requirements, and the impact assessment process.

What we’re looking for in you
  • Education: A third-level qualification in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field that gives the candidate the necessary skills to complete the role.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of post-graduate experience in fulfilling similar functions or in a similar role.
  • A good understanding of environmental noise guidance and criteria applied routinely in Ireland.
  • Knowledge of building acoustics would be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with using sound level meters.
  • Good communication skills, particularly in relation to report writing.
  • An interest in acoustics, and a desire to excel in this field.
  • A full clean driving licence.

Prospective candidates will be expected to have excellent report writing skills, and be well organised with meticulous attention to detail while also being able to manage a varied and full workload. The candidate should thrive in a busy work environment and on delivering to required project deadlines.

If you feel this role is for you, we would be delighted to hear from you. You will be part of a growing acoustic team, working with the wider MKO team to deliver projects for clients across all sectors, and the renewables sector in particular.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, recognising the contribution you will make. At MKO, your professional development is important to us, with ongoing opportunities for growth and development, and a chance to make a tangible impact on the environment.

Candidates interested in the available position should apply with an up-to-date curriculum vitae and cover letter.
